Diane THOMAS Christian

San Angelo - Diane Elizabeth Thomas Christian was born March 26, 1953, in Stamford, TX. She moved to Abilene with her parents Frank and Fay Thomas and two sisters in 1961. She was as student of ballet, piano, drama and participated in many local theatre productions before graduating from Cooper High School in 1971.

She married Glenn Boles in 1974 and they had one son Ian Hunter Boles. Diane received a BA and a MA from the University of Houston. On August 18, 1979, Diane married Dallas Christian, a union that lasted 40 years prior to Dallas passing away on April 28, 2019. Dallas, Diane, and Ian moved to San Angelo in 1984. While in San Angelo Diane taught English in area schools. She commuted to Lubbock and obtained a PhD in English from Texas Tech University. After receiving her PhD, she became an adjunct professor at Angelo State University.

After her husband's death in 2019 Diane moved to the Austin area to be with her son and to enjoy being "Grandma D" to her granddaughters. She was a lifelong Episcopalian.

Diane followed her Savior home to be reunited with the love of her life, Dallas Christian on May 15, 2022. Her life will be celebrated with Graveside Rites at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, TX with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Faye and her husband, Dallas.

She is survived by her son, Ian Boles of Austin, TX and his daughters Lily Boles, Ava Boles; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Dave Winne of Round Rock, TX and their children, Mike and his wife Michelle, Natalie, and Dallas Ray; 2 great-grandchildren, Peyton Winne, and Haylee Winne; two older sisters, Judith Thomas Hanson of Clyde, TX and Mary Thomas Blackwell and husband Bill of Goldthwaite, TX; two nephews Fr. John Currin of Northville, MI and Will Blackwell and wife Vivian of Huntsville; one niece Martha Barnett and husband Lance of Abilene, TX and four great nephews.
