Jon Rhiddlehoover

Jon Rhiddlehoover, 48, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at a local medical center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Thomson officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. A private committal service will be in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.

Mr. Rhiddlehoover was born Feb. 9, 1953, in Hot Springs, AR. In 1991 he moved from Granbury to Abilene where he coached at Cooper High School for five years. He accepted the position as football coach and track coach at McMurry University in 1996. He married Stacey Greer in Abilene Jan. 4, 1975. Mr. Rhiddlehoover was a member of First United Methodist Church, Texas High School Coaches Assn. and American Football Coaches Assn.

Survivors include his wife, Stacey Greer Rhiddlehoover of Abilene; a son, Jon Rhiddlehoover, Jr. of Abilene; a daughter, Ann Hurst of Abilene; his parents, David and Pauline Rhiddlehoover of Bismarck, AR; three brothers, David Rhiddlehoover, Jr. of Dayton, OH, Tom Rhiddlehoover of Hot Springs, AR and Bruce Rhiddlehoover of Bismarck, AR; two sisters, April DiPasquale of Carrollton and Annette Gates of Hot Springs, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 1318 South 2nd St., Abilene, TX 79602; Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene, TX 79604; or Hendrick Cancer Center, 2000 Pine, Abilene, TX 79601.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 5701 Hwy 277 South.
